New Year ….. New Ideas …. New Hopes

Happy New Year. I Hope everyone’s holidays have been as blessed as mine have been.

I received that cute little bluebird as a Christmas gift from my grandson’s girlfriend Shirley. Nothing expensive or elaborate like some of my other collectables, but quite possibly the most thought provoking of them all. As I was sitting here this morning thinking about my next post, my new year, my jewelry business…. I happened to glance over to this little bluebird with its glimmering eye and bucket of violets and was immediately calmed. It was as if I received an omen that all was going to be. Be what? That was just it! What my Hopes for were, were going to be!

HOPE: “An optimistic attitude of mind based on an expectation of positive outcomes……”
Wikipedia

I also looked up the spiritual meaning of Bluebirds on Wikipedia and found a couple of interesting items. First, sailors used bluebird tattoos to signify home and family. And bluebirds are considered a good omen. Of course there is the “Bluebird of Happiness”.

Alexander Pope in his Essay on Man states:

“Hope springs eternal in the human breast;
Man never is, but always to be blessed:
The soul, uneasy and confined from home,
Rests and expatiates in a life to come.”

Wow…. I have such great Hope now for New Year with New Ideas.

As everyone else has done I’m sure, I have made my resolutions.
1. Make a bracelet a week
2. No buying of beads unless needed for a special order
3. Use up some of stash more often ( well I guess that goes with #2)
4. Get my etsy shop going

These are my ideas and goals for the new year. And I feel confident that I can achieve them. I look forward to showing you my first achievement by the end of next week. A bracelet that I will dedicate to Shirley and her bluebird present.

Thanks for reading my blog.

  1. Hi PJ, Thanks for looking at my blog and following and nice comments. You are a trip! How fun. Can’t wait to read more. Not sure what I am doing yet. Thought it was best to start with what I am most familiar with. I am still learning beading, but like it so much! About the birds, cardinals have really caught my attention. No bluebirds in my area. I am a novice bird watcher… in my yard anyway. 🙂

    • Thanks I hope you continue reading my blog. I’m new at this and so far I’m enjoying it. Bird watching used to be one of my passions until both my asthma and arthritis keep me from long walks. Now I enjoy birds from my back yard also. I’ll write about that someday.
      Again Thanks
